A happy ending to an unhappy story... I am glad he got his peace and you must be happy to know that beneath his harsh surface there is still a glimse of the man you used to love. But even more important to know that he will take care of your son for you.

It has been an adventure to follow your story. I am so happy for you. You are a great person and you desirve only the best.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I commend you for allowing him his say! I was married to an alcoholic and I am not sure I would have possessed your maturity in this situation. It was magnificent to wish him well too! Even if you never said, thinking it was wonderful! sam

Bravo
to you for letting him say his piece without turning it around, even though you felt (and rightly so) that he had no right. Alcoholism is a curse, not only to the people living with the alcoholic, but even more so to the alcoholic him/herself...those who just can't seem to stop, no matter what kind of help is available, even when they know they can lose everybody and everything they love. And usually do. There's no honor in kicking a dog when he is down.
