I've been rather busy lately running my friend alex to his appointments with doctors. He's in his 80's and his car is on the blink. I actually know he uses me a bit, but he is of the old school of men that think they should tell women what to do. Needless to say we have several spats. I call him my grumpy old man friend. He is friendless at his age except for me and two of my friends who at times chip in with helping him. He is in need a grteat deal. I wish he could figure out that my knees are just as bad as his.
By the way it has been rather cold and then rather hot with extremes in the weather. Day before yesterday the high was 45 F. for a high for the day with a chill factor of 26 degrees because of extreme wind. Tomorrow it will be nearly 80 and then Monday it will be in the 30's for the high for the day with another cold front blowing in fro m the north.
When it is really cold, this house is hard to keep warm with a high wind. In Texas we only get high winds and extremes in the weather. Well, on those particular days I stay in the warmest rooms of home and save up and write on other days.
I am working with the "yarn Yentas" making squares for granny blankets for the poor, the shutins, etc. We collected unused yarn from donors, and spend part of the time meeting once a month to turn in squares. I sometimes spend spare time on weekend doing the volunteer crochet work. Then lately I spend all my free time that I can scrounge making an aphgan for my cousin Mary. Hers is made of a color theme of pale blue pink, white, wine red, and hunter green for an outside band. It is turning out quite nicely. I spent the day with my right leg elevated as the knee swelled up and it hurt to walk on it today. I not sure, but I think I getting close to wearing out an artifician joint. It is 12 years old now going on 13. Snuggle up if its cold around where you live. Have a good evening.
