It's rare when a movie is as good as the book.
Unfortunately, most movies that appeal to the younger audience, especially the horror ones, tend to have the "After School Special" feel to me.

Isn’t that disappointing – when you read a book and truly enjoy it and then go to the movie and find that it doesn’t live up to the book. Actually, I usually find it works that way (our imagination allows us to envision the characters, the scenes, etc. and the movie destroys what our imagination had so magically created).
