40 people! Wow – now that’s a gathering. It must have been a defining moment to realize you did not feel Carl’s absence – that you could stand on your own. And how wonderful that day filled you with a warm sense of family!

Re: Bel, thanks so much for your comment on my blog yesterday.
Pat,
Thank you so much for sharing this with me. We all get our 15 minutes to whine my dear, so if you were whining, just consider that your turn!

Bel, thanks so much for your comment on my blog yesterday.
I zapped it because in it I was whining rather than doing something productive. But your comment was so comforting and sisterly it made me feel included. Not everyone does that. Here's hoping you love the Pacific Northwest as much as I do. Next summer I'm pointing little Ruby (my car) west and not stopping until I can wade in the Pacific Ocean. It's good to read your Thanksgiving story. {{{}}}

So much of your posts touch my heart. There is much I miss from my first "family" but that has been many years ago. My mom-in-law was more than any mom could be and I remember how great she would be during the holidays. I haven't had that for many years now. Thanks for the tears and the memories as I remember taking on the guys in the living room while the girls hung out in the kitchen as well. Deviled eggs at 2 in the morning are the best!
