You have your own voice which is identifiable right away. And unlike others who get bogged down in the attempt to sound literary - you pull it off with heart and gusto. I think you have a good balance between "show" vs. "tell." And you have a way of using contemporary writing, humour, flow (and the altering of cadence), and just fine writing to write about poignant topics. Thank you!

Great beginning, Flash. Welcome to Blogit. I must say, though, that once you begin your "show", there is no stopping. From now on you will be expected to perform. It would be too much of a shock to your children for you to stop. They won't want to hear that you are tired of doing it. I know, I'm 70+ and my "children" (now all in their 40's) expect me to be as I was when I was 40. They don't see me as the old woman that I feel like sometimes.
