Wow...
kinda like reading my own life story (minus the daddy part). I've often asked myself these same questions. Why did I choose the parents I have (I use the word "have" loosely in my dad's case)? What am I supposed to learn from it all or teach others? Tough questions all...

An Alternative
I am an opinionated, over-educated, materialist atheist.  My answer to your question is the one your gave; you're here because your mother forgot to take her pill, but still had sex.  I'm here, and came to my parents, because they never quite figured out the birth control thing.  There isn't a purpose, unless you adopt one. There is just being.  Be on!

I think your question is common to a lot of people including myself! There is no real answer but we make the best of it! My mother had been indifferent to me for 50 years and I wonder why she had me as well. sam
