I did the same! He has always respected me for that! I wanted him home right now but it didn't work that way! The point is that you are allowing him the opportunity to make a decision and that is always good! sam

How can you be a bad mom for giving your son the freedom to choose for himself? I think that is quite the opposite. If you force him to come with you, he will resent you. Let him stay with his dad for the rest of the year and let him come to you when he feels like it. I think that is a great gift. Your mother is right about always putting your children first, but that doesn't automatically mean that you should put your life on hold... that is not in their best interest. A happy mom is a great mom :)
You will figure it out... go for it, make your own happiness:)
