I've had exactly the same experience. Without blogit I would never ever have written a poem. Now I do, and, amazingly, my blogger friends even like them.

There is a great deal of talent on this site and it has had a similar impact on me. Whereas I used to write some poems and tuck them away in a file folder, I now put them out there for people to read and it’s given me confidence to sink my teeth into the craft.

I feel the same way as you about writing, and I have to recommend an excellent book to you : Dorothea Brande's On Becoming A Writer. It's been a brilliant help to me.
