Thanks, Shelly! You have put your finger on it! Your faith teaches tolerance - Islam does not...

I think this is an outstanding effort too! I am so thankful my faith teaches tolerance! I don't understand the hostility toward Israel. Shelly

Thanks, TAPS. I see you got the point! The Arabs have a saying, borne out by experience: 'If the camel's nose is in the tent, the camel is in the tent..."

Thanks for your comment! In response to a question you raised on an earlier occasion, I was indeed a denizen of the academic world. The thing is, I am not at the moment, and I'm not sure that I will find the time to develop this into a proper paper, let alone a book, although it is one of the very few issues I am actually passionate about!

What is more, getting anything published in the current climate is difficult anyway, given the hostility towards Israel by historically illiterate liberals...

The camel's nose being in the tent is a frightening thought as the tail is not far behind, and between the nose and the tail is the whole thing:  regulation of public and private aspects of life including politics, economics, banking, business, contracts, family, sexuality, hygiene, social issues.....

Naut - my hope is that you are using Blogit as a "testing ground" for a soon-to-be-published or already published analysis of the Israeli/Palestinian situation.  Your critical eye is needed when emotions run high.  The last time I was in Israel - a couple of years ago - I heard about residents of an Israeli Arab town near the West Bank who refused to pay taxes and were protesting.  Israeli officials said - fine - you don't want to pay taxes to your country, we'll annex your town to the Palestinian side.  Taxes were paid in a hurry.  Arabs in Israel have it better than their Palestinian counterparts; why would they wish to be under Palestinian rule?
