Re: Compassionate Anger
Your interpretation of "Whatever arises should be faced and dealt with in a practical manner according to the situation and task at hand" makes we think about a gongan as described below (It was only many several days later that I had a chance to find out the original quotes):
Master Yangshan asked his master, Guishan the question: "How I should make of it if hundreds and thousands of events come about at the same time?" Guishan replied, "The green is not yellow; long is not short, all things abide at their positions, (they have) nothing to do with me."
The "me" here is the self or self-attachment, that should not be involved in the appropriate dealing with the myriad things.

Compassionate Anger
I certainly do not claim enlightenment but I can see your point here. It is often the case that people suppress anger to appear enlightened, or at least spiritually highly advanced, only to eventually fall apart due to the unhealthy buildup of suppressed anger. There seems to be a lot of "spiritual" paths taught today that only want to face half of the reality in the world of relative truth and suppress or ignore the other half. One should ultimately not even remain attached to "being good and spiritually mature". Whatever arises should be faced and dealt with in a practical manner according to the situation and task at hand.
