Oh, mirror, mirror
purveyor of present and past
How novel to meet, again
and have a good laugh

Let's stick our noses into the mirror
and surprise our faces
Worry wrinkles and laugh lines alike
deserving of a lengthly glance
eyes wide open to the light
everything is a frightful sight

perhaps if it were dim and dark...
if we would wait until is night
we could ignore the blatant truth
and think we still possess our youth

Though in those moments when we stare
those eyes they taunt, allure, and dare
We cannot think beyond the past
It saturates our smile and laugh

But it is to the future our reflection reigns
In this dispossesing of our fate and chimes.
We look to the sheen and dismiss the glare
And see to nose to nose our life we share!

There are dreams we have we don’t recall
Looking in the mirror shadows start to fall
And the desires of the night are revealed
Decisions are made, deals with self sealed.
