TAPS, I didn't see or hear anyone tinkling in the woods...

And I didn't see any signs, though I didn't go the whole mile to Artist Point.  My legs were done in by the time I got back to the top!

In fact, I did not see even one bear on this trip;  these days, it is all buffalo!  And I did see a canid--wolf or coyote--and got out to take a few pictures, at great distance.  Next five minutes, there were a half dozen more cars stopping, peering into the distance, wondering 'what are we looking at?'

Troosha, I had a theory about going down--though I didn't try it--

that you could do that thing where you put your hands on the rails, lift your feet, and sli-i-i-i-de!

Of course, it wouldn't help much coming back up...

Ciel, when I last followed that rim trail, all along the way, every so often, were signs telling us to carry a stick and beat on the trees to make noise, or to wear tinkling bells, or to sing as you walked, so that the bears would know you were coming and could retreat before you got to them.  Are those signs still there?
