i wish I knew dear...i too have my moments...but if being calm freaks you out perhaps you should do otherwise...let it out loud if you have to just to get them off your system..maybe then you'll find calm in some way...i hope.

Re: Re: I go through insomniac phases like that...

I've never tried anything fancy...  just a couple of the standard non-prescription stuff.

I used to avoid pills on principle, until someone pointed out that I could spend my energy coping, or I could use a simple short term expedient, and use my energy for living instead of coping.

Alocke
I haven't found anything specific that works.  I know the feeling of wanting (desperately) to fall asleep but the mind continues to wander and roam.  What has worked for me best (though not consistently) is moving to another bed or moving to the couch.  If you find something that works for you, please share with the group.    Sleep well this evening.

Are you talking about sleeping medication? Silly, I've never thought about taking a pill for it! That's probably a good idea. Thanx Ciel, I'll look into it.

I go through insomniac phases like that...
but I don't have a regular job I have to go to, so I can read until my eyes cross--even if that's 5 AM.  When I get tired of it, though, I will take some over-the-counter thing to help me go to sleep.  The small amount of diphenhydramine in a PM pain med is usually enough to quiet things down inside.  And eases my chronic low-back ache.
