Similar thing happened to me - I was 36, not 6, and it still freaked me out to see two handsome roosters running around without their heads. They took an awfully long time to die, and I went off meat for a year. Eventually my craving for bacon after a Saturday morning swim was stronger than my memories of that day, so I'm now back to eating everything - I guess it helps that I lived in China for a couple of years!
