Your shoulders are heavy laden. I know that it is difficult to grasp the years especially when they are so difficult. There are no easy answers. One thing if one is going to write inebriated, one should edit sober. If your novel is dragging take a good look at the character development and are the scene set properly. Only include what is absolutely. Revision is the key to a good novel. Also be careful not to give the ending up too soon.
