edited version of inquiry regarding "last line"-

Now then regarding the last statement in the work you remark upon let me first explain there is a "journey" described in this work- in this journey a multitude of conflicts are worked then resolved by children.  To this end there is a certain fatigue felt, in the understanding that we the adults cannot resolve conflicts as easy as the children or the "babes" as they are called in this work.  "Alas" is a word akin to the old English word lassitude, and in Latin we see this word as lassus.  It reflects in this work a noted fatigue- a condition where I have recorded human weakness and resolved upon the use of this single word to reflect this condition at the end of a journey taken, and also to reflect the condition of choice in the social condition that the methodology I set out to describe is reflecting upon.  I might have used a more available word in our language- but then I would have failed to record my own condition of weakness that was reached by the last line- in the last line a "great divide is filled" to me there is no great divide ever filled without great effort.  Consider the Grand Canyon for example- a great canyon indeed- if one would attempt to fill it with anything it would exhaust the human condition.  There are such gaps that I have noted in our modern world, gaps that look to me as vivid, and wide as the Grand Canyon- I no more wish to fall over the side of such a "great divide" as I would wish this upon another- but it is not easy to watch people walk towards such a divide and fall into it-

In my works I assert there is a great divide, and much human suffering results.  Social injustice is costly- leaving the human condition weak- and the human heart is frail once they begin to see the journey required to bridge cultures in hope and friendship- not hatred.

This is a journey that exhausts one to even imagine- but one worthy of taking!

I could have titled this work Lassitude,  but it might have shadowed the hope with the fatigue- I found the hope in the belief that "babes" would be able to apply my methodology so I did not want to discourage us all too much- since there is still hope left for us all in the training of our children to work and re-work conflict without violent human eruptions.©
