I had to say, I wsas a little on the fence with this one,
until I got a better handle on Asperger's. While we don't know what exactly happened, it sounds like the poor kid, through no fault of his own, is what we back in the day would have called a "social donut." His disability makes him annoying, boring, and leech-like, sort of like the average congressman, but not a danger or even a distraction.

On the other hand, mainstreaming special needs kids seems to be largely a bad idea, simply because most teachers are not trained in special education, so they are already at a bad disadvantage as to how to deal with special needs. And to top it off, a regular teacher who has special ed kids cannot get any help from the special ed teachers, because most of what they need to know is classified information -- at least, that's the way it is here.

This teacher, however, is a moron, and a pretty callous one at that.

Corbin Dallas,
There you go again getting a distorted picture of a story! There is something wrong with this tale!

I would not send my child to a school that allowed such a dehumanizing event. She should be barred from ever teaching again. She has absolutely no compassion for children. This is inhumane.

I cannot comprehend the school's stance. The teacher should be placed on immediate leave. It is incomprehensible that an individual who assumes the position of teacher would blatantly disrespect and diminish a student and fellow human being. Her actions are unconscionable and disrespecting of the profession. sam

I cannot even comprehend this.....I will be very interested to see the outcome of this story.  As already pointed out, all the children in the classroom are victims in this twisted teacher's  tactics.

If my child was one of the other children in the class and was made to participate in such a thing, I would protest just as vigorously as if the victim were mine.  Either the teacher would be gone or I would remove my child from that class.  What kind of lesson is that for a child?

I am almost speechless! This is utterly outrageous! That teacher should have her licence revoked immediately, and charges brought against her and the school, as well as a civil suit...
