Sad story.
I know how grief and pain can drive people to be acoholics. I once had an uncle who died an acoholic. He on the other hand could not let go off his wife who was divorcing him. In pain he drunk himself to death.

I am so sorry you had to live through that, and for your loss... Be strong and remember that G-d loves you.

Unfortunately, too many have taken alcohol as a mistress or a lover -- either to lessen their pain or to give them courage that they lack. Having dealt with this problem (a very, very close friend "was" an alcoholic), I know that it is an illness that can only be treated through a rigid, certified program. He overcame alcoholism over 20 years ago -- but still refers to himself as a "recovering alcoholic" because of the devastating severity of this illness. Thank you for sharing. Peace, blessings and understanding.
