I don't think, niyog, that it matters one bit whether or not the government
is democratic. Even democratic governments make stupid decisions that run contrary to what is best for the people. No, this is a case control and power.

Those French bastards have been doing this sort of thing for years. They
just did it in the Ivory Coast last year. But, then, American and Canadian oil companies have done the same in Africa as well (probably other places, too). It's the golden rule...

Heartbreaking and outrageous, Saul..
Seems the French have an oil company, as does the U.S. (Chevron, I believe) who hold contracts with the junta and are enabling, by infusing cash and hard telling what else, the oppression and brutality. Our government imposed sanctions, but as always, corporate profitmaking rules.

It is shocking
