The first word that comes to me after reading this a couple of times:
Amazing. There's so much more to this, so much to think about. But I don't want to think about it -- all the fear and living in dread of a footstep at the end of the day, knowing it's up to him whether I suffer or not. That was 40 years ago, and I prefer to think of how it felt to walk away, to survive. It's good to know we're strong enough to do that, if we're able to take the first step. Again, your poem is amazing. :)

I concur with the rest of the comments. The praise is well deserved. Also, on a personal note, I loved the line "Bruised with hemorrhaging grief."

Purple_Mermaid, your poems are like no others I have read, filled with passion, and sadness, and life's injustices. Yet beauty reigns--in the music, the pictures and in the knowledge that you have won.
