I have never tried to do a long roll. Since you are using toothpicks and qtips, I kind of doubt it. Doing a longer roll would also be very hard to control. You would not get a tight enough bead. So this is one of those things you learn by doing over and over till it does not seem as tedious as it really is

as to how to string...your suggestions sound cool. I have some dried pumpkin seeds that I colored and have tried those. I am trying to figure out how to make beads out of pecans.

Really neat, mikes_goddess. Just one question because I don't have a lot of patience with tedious work. Can you like roll a whole pace into a long roll and then when it is dry cut into various sizes with a really sharp knife? Also, when you string them, do you put anything between these beads like a pierced juniper berry seeds like the Navajo use, or something?
