I agree...
...attempting to address the supernatural in the context of science is like explaining the taste of an orange by comparing it to an automobile....one has nothing to do with the other. And vice-versa. Excellent post.

Re:

ZenMom, I don't normally engage in these debates. These three posts were prompted by reading another Bloggers highly approving remarks on what I know to be a completely incorrect and dishonest piece of propaganda.

Among the few things I 'believe' in is the need for tolerance, and I think I can say that I am far more tolerant of religion in general than the average atheist/agnostic, as I think I have demonstrated in my series on religion. For the most part, I never have any problems with Christians anyway.

I am, however, implacably hostile to the one religion which is essentially intolerant of views of the world different from its own; which bases its claim to supremacy on the claim of being in the possession of God's 'final' word, is the basis for a vicious totalitarianism, and appears to be in the ascendancy...

Re:
As you know, TAPS, far be it from me to want to destroy anyone's faith. It's when faith masquerades as science that I sometimes speak up...

Re: Nautikos
Thanks for your comment, Justi. It's nice that we don't have to agree on everything, isn't it?

Nautikos, I love science and things scientific.  I also love God as taught in The Holy Bible.  I see no reason to set one against the other.  I believe that what I do not understand now will, "in that great gettin' up morning", be made clear to me.  In the meantime, I love using my mental capacities to study science and be thrilled with and by all things discovered.  I have never yet found anything scientific to discredit my belief in God.

Nautikos
Give him a fair chance. Watch it. I don't agree with you at all on this. I am reading it and value you highly for writing it. It never hurts one to see all sides, even after he has made up his mind.
