Way to go!
Dear NYMarine
I`m new to Blogit. I read your blogs about your personal history. I`m sorry about your childhood. But I think it`s excellent that you`ve been clean for fifteen years. Way to go! Hope you`ll find peace of mind. I hope the rest of your life will be the rest of your life!
All the best,
Hanne

I am a child of an alcoholic (mother not father) and I understand fully what you are saying. Trying to gel the two images of my upbringing the good with the bad is difficult. I am 32 and my mother is still living, she remembers nothing of the monster that alcohol turned her into and still to this day will not admit that she has a problem with it. A relationship with her is difficult to say the least and the ghosts it leaves you with are hard to defeat.
I commend you on your 15 years sober and good luck with battling these demons that haunt us.

I loved the line not die like my father. So heavy, so true, our parents
hold the keys to our heart, be they bad or good, we love them anyway. We
have free will and choice, thanks to our own creator. Don't give up the right
to joy.

This is well written...although I do not know you, I still feel happy that you are able to see the good in yourself. 15 years sober is very commendable.

15 years without. That's an admirable achievement considering your past. I salute you in deep respect.
