I have to agree with Fine Young Singer

Though it is a piece of wisdom that is hard to adhere to.  If not infatuation, then pity or reputation runs counter to it.  So it was with my first two marriages.

Only a sense of destiny that gives you the assurance that, no matter how true to yourself you are, the other person will be your partner from some time till the end, only this can keep you from losing yourself to win them.  Then each gift you give, each flower you send is for purest love seeking not even love in return.  I cannot tell you how liberating that has been for me with respect to my own destined one.
