Doesn't it feel fantastic ?The things one can do by changing the road.

Feeling different emotions is good for one's health.

Very interesting, StrickGold.   I am afraid that I am an ex-wfe that took the road less travelled.  My husband was pretty much the way with his sons that you describe your parents.  He was determined to disown his sons and distance himself from them and their wives and children.  I refused to be a part of that and was given an ultimatum--"them or me."  He filed for divorce when I told him I would not give up my children or grandchildren for his selfish reasons.   For months, until the day the divorce was final, he kept saying, "we don't have to be divorced if you just make up your mind to do what I say."   What a waste of a life!

Congratulations to you for being brave and travel the lonely road. I had the same experience with my parents. It is not easy to set oneself free but in the end it is the only way.

Strick
I could have written this post myself, for this is my life, my circumstances and I've always taken the road less traveled because who wants to take the well worn road!? My parents at one time disowned me when I was in my early 40's...it is amazing what you can see once you set yourself free Great post
