Very good Haiku - actually, there is discussion on Haiku, by some of the greats, Basho and onto modern day Japanese poets, they write more "free-form" Haiku ~ More like taking the moment and condensing it but, not losing the depth or meaning of that inspiration...but...that's a whole new discussion.
I enjoyed your Haiku ~ what a welcoming sight that would be ~ Elyse

A Haiku has a sylllable count of 5-7-5. This does not reflect that count. It is an open tercet, although tercets rarely stand alone this one can. Also the best haiku reflect an undeniable Zen influence. Elements of compassion, silence, and awareness of temporality often combine to reveal a sense of mystery. (Berating is scolding and I ask you to think about that when considering the word berate as in reference to my poem. It is unfortunate but I hear berating because of color everwhere I go). sam
