I strongly suspect, Sira, that Kabu is making Wiley see the error of his ways...

Oh my...
Charlie (or Charlene) is adorable! And I'm quite relieved to see that there was no mention of chipmunk murder in your post--so many people (Wiley!) see them as pests, and spend their time plotting unspeakable violence against the furry little darlings!

Re: Charlie is much cuter...
I'm not that fond of groundhogs myself, cheugon, especially not our Wiarton Willie, whose prediction for this winter's duration was waaaay off! In fact, I wouldn't hesitate calling him a liar...

Re:
Thanks, TAPS. I don't know how 'urbanized' your area is, but chipmunks, unlike squirrels, seem to need a bit more 'nature'. Having said that, ours is a typical,  mature subdivision. We even have coyotes in this area...

Re: Nautikos
Thanks, Krisles! For some reason our sqirrels, that we have an army of, lol, have never been quite that fearless. They come close, but not that close...But that little chipmunk had the heart of a lion...

Charlie is much cuter...
...than the ill-tempered groundhog who used to visit my back yard, driving my dogs crazy! Great picture!

I am of course excited over this post and anticipating a grand competition
between you and me. Like you though I haven't a clue which Sammy squirrel I'm talking to but one today turned and looked towards me when I called my puss puss call. Just can't wait for the chipmunks and I bet I get one tamer than you.

Nautikos, I'll take a chipmunk over a squirrel any day.  But, I don't think I've ever seen a chipmunk in Kansas City.  I always had fun feeding them and playing with them in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.    And then, there was that special one in the Teton Mountains of Wyoming that insisted on eating all of my trail mix.   I will be watching for your continuing saga of Charlie (Charlene).

Nautikos
How sweet it is......... You just sparked a memory from my childhood....the husband of a sitter I once had used to feed pecans to squirrels who would hop up on the ledge he'd built out of his office window....they would eat out of my hand, too.....as long as it was inside of his!  I thougt it so magical!  I've never seen a chipmunk up so close......jumping up on your chest!  I love it!

What a wonderful encounter. A special experience. I look forward to the development of this new friend! It would be cool if s/he were an offspring!  Happy Easter!  sam
