Re: Benzinha, Lysistrata, and Aunt Jemima...Forces for Peace

majroj, Lysistrata made it all seem so easy.

I remember the Cuecas of Chile and the mothers and grandmothers of Argentina and the women of Guatemalan Indian pueblos, and and and and and, we all very tired women and very sad ones, too.

The logic and power of your last sentence.....
It should be on banners in the grand boulevards and on bumper stickers across the world. Or perhaps teatowels that are sold to raise money to help those father can't come home to

Benzinha, Lysistrata, and Aunt Jemima...Forces for Peace

I assure you, when you are cold and it is dark, you are hungry and tired of shifting here and reacting there and attacking that other, and you have no choice, and it is three am...you'd come home to Dorothea Montalvo Puente.

"Dancin alone" refers to the nti-Pinochet protests of the Eighties; women bereaved by his terror squads would come, dressed in black, to a square, each with a picture of their lost son, husband, brother or father, and silently dance with them as though they were there.

Re: Cuecas solo, no?

majroj, I do almost all things solita....but that's okay. Protesting everything, everyday and forever, quite boring and irritating to have to do.

Did you read SEEDLING'S comment above? It extends mine so lovingly. Wonderful. What fun comments are.

And, yes, we women are the only ones who start the stop the madness movements.....and the men eventually follow and play our game for awhile....until peace bores them to tears and earns them no profits and then they start the game again.

Cuecas, Women in Black, Peace Pilgrims, we.

I second this post
Come home to dinner, put down the guns, come into my arms, let your mama's and your daughters and your wives hold you close while you and your dinner are still warm. Come home boys, play some games here, we women will show you how. It's dark now, come on home where it is safe. Come sleep in your beds and have wonderful dreams and wake to the sunshine and laughter in the morning. Come home now boys...we miss you and need you here.
