Thanks -- I agree.  There is nothing wrong with a drink in moderation but there are those that have addictive personalities  - my brother is one of them-- he has now been sober for 16 yrs and I am SO PROUD OF HIM-- his life is now so much richer. Thanks for reading my friend and have a wonderful weekend

I myself love the taste of a good wine
I like 1 maybe 2 glasses of wine with dinner but I do not care for more than that because I dont want anything to alter my thinking.  Unfortunatly I have the nasty habit of cigarettes and I am trying desperatly to quit for GOOD this time.  I only smoke between 3-5 cigarettes a day but would like to be 100% SMOKE FREE

I never liked the taste myself and never drank. My Italian family had wine
at the table every night as I was growing up.  I simply chose not to drink...tried, and hated it...just like cigarettes and pot LOL

sweetie I enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings and never over indulge.
In that context it is just a lovely life enjoyment enhancer. For most people there are no devils in the bottom of a glass or two. I gew up in a protestant faith that was terrified of any one taking that first drink, it would lead to destruction. Sometimes that is true but I believe that cigs and drugs are just as if not more distructive and the opium that is destroying young people is grown in a muslim country.

Goldie

Well researched post my friend.

Well as a recovering alcoholic sober over 40 years, I can still appreciate the joys and comfort that alcohol can deliver to people without an addictive personality like mine.

It shouldn't take the mean spiritedness of any religion to make a person stop doing what they should not do, it should only take the God of a person's understanding, not a religion, to accomplish what they must.

Very nice presentation. I do not drink but have compassion for those battling the illness!  sam
