Rhisiart, I know your inside_out is showing here as you speak what you feel. And that's good. And so, I might save you some distress by warning you that I often quote passages from The Bible in my blog posts (usually the King James Version). I do not do this to "bang" or "thump". It is a part of me just as your art is a part of you. It is so familiar to me that I sometimes find myself using a verse as if it were my natural way of speaking. So, if you should read a post of mine some day and run into a "The Bible says....", do not say I didn't warn you.

Re: Beautiful picture. A Cunning Linguist knows nothing of double entendr
I concur -and yes that is my gist - however -"
When we look at the Bible and try to draw moral rules for living, but we take it out of the context of the time when they were written, we do them a great injustice."

Re: Re: Beautiful picture. A Cunning Linguist knows nothing of double ente
"the correct interpretations" is open to interpretation. If it was as easy as that we could all just say, "let's all be correct from this point on, people, this is getting tedious." You can't get two different people to look at a blue house and get them to agree that it's blue.
I get the gist of what you're saying, though. Some religious fanatics get carried away.

Let us use the correct interpretations then. If there is no word to translate you cannot make up your own to replace it.

Beautiful picture. A Cunning Linguist knows nothing of double entendre...
If we stop quoting books that have been translated from other languages over many years, and are open to interpretation, a lot of great literature is going to be off-limits.
