Sam no one ever wants to lose someone close especially a loved son or daughter. I was in the infantry in the Marine Corps. and my mother had the same horrors that you do. She was very vocal about them and actually forbidden me to join the infantry she wasn't happy about me going into the Corps. at all. I actually lied to her and told her I was going to work on aircraft until the day before bootcamp then I told her I had enlisted as a machine gunner. She was very mad! With the years and the time that passed I tried to tell her I was doing something I loved and I was very happy with my choice. I don't think she was ever happy about it but I was really doing what I loved so she accepted it in the long run. I hope your son is as happy in the service. He is doing something huge for himself and his country! I will say a pray for him and my friends abroad all we can really do is love and support them. My daughter is only three but one day she may want to join the service and then as you I will have to support her and say alot of prayers. Best of luck to you and your soldier please keep me up to date. Thanks for the kind words! Military life as I said is hard on everyone it is by far the hardest but most rewarding thing I have ever did in my life. Good luck and Godspeed for your sons return.

Oh, you bring tears to my eyes! You have provided me with so much pride I am ashamed that I have been so selfish! As a human being I am so proud of my young man; as a mother I cringe when the doorbell rings and I am not expecting anyone. I have horrible dreams of him not coming back to me. Most days I can't separate real from unreal when it comes to the fact he could lose his life. You have given me a lot of comfort! All the soldiers need our support. Thank you so much for this wonderful response. You will always be my favorite Marine! sam
