AardigeAfrikaner - in the world of computers it is impossible to keep up
Inevitably our circumstances and the day to day exposure of our primary occupations to a computer environment, will determine how current we are in our knowledge. That is why I simply chose the area I felt would be the most useful to my goals. Focusing on a niche, made the most sense.

Thanx for the info and the handy link.  Last time I looked at web related stuff I had an Amiga and HTML 3 was the hype of the moment.  Now I feel like a dinosaur.

AardigeAfrikaner - Re: As a matter of interest

I may have added some confusion to what I am doing by dropping the adjectives "web based" along the way, as in; "web based software". I'm focusing entirely on PHP scripting, utilizing MySQL databases. My experience with the computer based software languages is limited, though Java has an incredible potential and the C languages are backbone languages, my motives are to produce commercially viable digital products. I am simply not qualified in any form to speak further on my opinions of computer based programming languages. I am also the first to admit that my computer knowledge has gaping holes in it. But having said this, I have managed to work my way from computer illiteracy to writing primitive online software that actually works, in a 4 year span.

Let me show you one of my proudest moments. At the 2.5 year mark, I ventured into Javascript (internet scripting language not to be confused with Java) and produced my first working online software utility. HERE . . . it was from there that I moved on to more sophisticated projects. My software writing tools consist of several open source software programs that I use different inherent features of.

As a matter of interest
If I may ask:  Which scripting language are you using and which compiler etc.  Does this use the normal win32 sdk?  I'm not really a programmer as such but fiddle around with c & c++ & a little Java from time to time and I would like to know which language etc you think is the better one to get to know at this time.

sam444 - thank you - that is the type of feedback that is needed right now
The primary objective of my template design is ease of navigation for the site user. It helps to know that people visiting this test site can move around it without any hint of confusion, or worse getting lost in its pages.

I admire your tenacity. I think it is sharp! I hope it becomes the reality you are intending. It was easy to negotiate.   sam
