I resort to prayer. I also use your technique of think of something else. I try to do something good for someone else, that is my best cure! sam

I take xanax, a wonderful little pill, it has a way of making me forget what I was worrying about. It can not be abused, but for those times when the brain refuses to let you rest, it works wonders. :-)

I sing. I would whistle a happy tune if I could whistle, but I can't whistle, so I sing. A person cannot sing a happy song and worry at the same time.

I have a similar technique...
I worry about something else - usually something relatively unimportant, like a bit of work that just isn't quite right. I'm great at getting obsessed by challenges to the exclusion of all else
