Re: Good for you!

Thanks Sira.  That situation sounds normal to me.  I've always been terrified of drowning and I didn't see the sense of entering water when it might kill me.  I have no idea why I am doing it now!

But I do know that I've missed out on a wonderful experience, and there isn't much that can compare with being underwater, or floating on the top of it.  I'm always bursting into laughter at the realisation that I, scaredy cat me, am 'resting' on my back in 30 feet of water.

Good for you!

I had to take the level 1 class 15 times before they passed me, and I'm pretty sure they only let me through to the next class because I was annoying the instructor--even as a 5 year old, I had to have a good reason for doing things. No one could tell me why I should be jumping into the freezing cold water, or why I'd want to open my eyes and look at the bottom of the pool, so I didn't.

Usually, the class started with tiny little Sira standing on the edge of the pool. And they ended the same way--I was the only kid that never got her hair wet!

Kudos for you, taking lessons and learning something new--If I had the courage, I'd be in there with you (not in the change room, of course...although it sounds like the men have more fun than the women do!).

Pat
Thanks Pat. Down girl!  Remember that we are talking about sexagenarians, septuagenarians and the odd octogenarian.   And we're (nearly) past the stage of comparing other parts of our anatomy.  Mind you, the police force, army and air force do frequent the gym.

ginnie
I look forward to an invitation, ginnie.  Remember that attending a gym doesn't mean actually 'doing' anything - I'm not that daft.

I suppose we all do in our own way, just like we all have habits.

I suppose, like the men, it depends on age, sam.

Good writing. Funny.
Now I can entertain myself thinking about all the naked guys in the locker room. I'll forget they're comparing scars.   :)pat

Hi John! Very entertaining piece here! Males do have their rituals! Guess women do too! Great fun!
