The closest I got to solving this one was...A Shield, which also wrong.

Yes, sometimes, Afzal because those guys were pretty clever...
and they started "the riddle thing." What I try to do in figuring them out is check the ambiance of the piece, note the setting and/or period of time. Then I look for key revealing words that are strategically placed, and go from there with questions and guesses.
