Accepting beliefs
To begin to accept another's beliefs means you must question your own first.  Some people are afraid to question or entertain knew ideas about God.  Those are usually the beliefs that were instilled at a young age and by someone respected with authority.  We should be learning every day from each other.  I really enjoy reading these different views, thanks.

I've said many times that the best spiritual inspiration comes from the

writers on this site that question the status quo of religion.  I am a very strong believer in God, and a Catholic.  I see very little from either Kooka or Gomedome (or from yourself for that matter) that I find offensive, and I've never felt that I've been insulted, belittled, berated or criticized for my faith.  In fact, I've had some of the most stimulating discussions regarding religion, faith & morality in the blogs written by those who question the traditional avenues of faith.

I have, however, been insulted, judged, belittled and berated by many that call themselves Christians or believers, both directly and indirectly through misrepresentations, misstatements and accusations.

I've said it before and I'll say it again--how ironic that those who question are more Christian in their behaviors and attitudes than are those calling themselves Christians.

gomey - those tenants of Secular Humanism are of a higher nature than
how too many Christians act.

Xeno-x - I would hope that it is more than simply attacking the beliefs of

others.

Though I don't really give a flying fig if it is seen that way by some people. The reality is that religious beliefs derived from antiquated perceptions and redundant concepts, are a huge problem in this world. The notion of not being able to objectively scrutinize beliefs that so many are willing to impose on our societies, is a card that has been played (and gotten away with) for far too long.

I have posted what I believe many times: HERE is an example. If someone thinks there is something there to attack, I say fire away but don't bring a peashooter to a cannon fight. Notes from God don't count either.

It would be nice if they posited their own theorems rather than bash other people's. That way believers can 'bash' back!!!
