I agree
This reminds me of that commercial on tv. Now I don't remember what the commercial is for (which sort of defeats the purpose of the ad right?) but it is in an office and someone is in a bad mood and yells at the next woman, then she slaps the pencils of the next man, then he spills coffee... and it just spreads!!
Life really is like that-- a bad mood spreads quicker than a rotten smell!

Ash_pradhan

Thank all of you so much. I hate to lose a comrad because of our differences and beliefs and because we are both fighters so to speak, and I would love to invite my comrad back into the discussion if he decides to let his guard down a little to debate on equal footing. I just don't want anyone to think I'm trying to change them for some reason. I'm not the one:) - if you want change, don't look to me. I'm just the one with questions and so many questions that many would rather fight than answer. I'm not afraid to ask or answer anything. My beliefs are as solid as a rock but they're not complete like I wish them to be.

I love speaking on religion and politics because if you really truly believe what you are saying, you should be able to discuss it without fear of questions from anybody. My questions help me try to link your reasoning with my own and that's how I learn to accept and understand. I love all you guys like you are my family...

...even you, Glennb.

Great job lindo..With your diverse upbringing, I think you've a lot to
contribute to this debate..you've already correctly flagged 3 critical issues in today's world, ie,faith, politics, big oil..let me suggest one more - "global finance"..with your arrival on the scene, today could be a positive turning point in this debate..and b2008 & glenb, both of yours stick-to-itiveness ala "stick to the fight when hardest hit" shows you both care and are competent, so please continue at whatever pace suits you and the bloggers..rest assured that myself and some others are watching..Best, Ash

Re: Hi B and happy new year

Thank you so much for your comments. I love to converse about issues on blogit but I do not like it when others try to put you down and call you names because they believe their point is the one and only reasonable one. I love a good back and forth debate as long as we keep the messages on subjects instead of attacking each other's preferences or feelings. One of my mottos is "let's agree to disagree" and respect each other's feelings. But that doesn't happen with everyone and it disturbs me and makes me want to counter-attack and that's only my defense system because of being a New Yorker. You either had to learn to fight or run away. I never ran away. I just want to find why people believe the way they do without trying to change them to my way of thinking, that's all.

Thanks again for your post.

Negative people who love to complain!
I agree with lindo one hundred percent! We complain out of habit, but mostly because we don't have anywhere else to vent our frustrations!

Hi B and happy new year

the fireworks seem to be in full swing here in . Anyway to answer what seemed to be the main question in your post : why do people keep complaining? much as we hate to admit it: we all complain, in one way or the other, at some point in the conversation we vent out our frustration. The issue is not about complaining itself, it is about it becoming a method of facing the world, because there is always something that one can do to reduce the problem if not solve it completely. The political situation of the wrold at this point is probabaly something that we can only complain about, I do  honestly believe that dialogue would be the next best thing to do if we cannot  establish world peace in the the coming millenuem. It is not easy to recognize our adversaries as human beings, but it would be a great start. I hope that in someway we can establish this kind of civilized conversation here at Blogit even when we are tackling tough issues like faith, politics, and of course Big Oil!

God bless.

B2008,
I say I know the difference and you come up with some unknown parable about eyes and noses??? Stay mature or you can't play with the big dogs! And by the way nobody can be that happy anyway! Have you bought any gas lately or do you work for "big oil"?? It is amazing how private enterprise is running and ruining America! Or did you notice?

Hello again Glenb & b2008...I'm sorry to say that this debate isn't
going anywhere..personal attacks won't resolve anything..if you really care about elevating the bloggers' awareness about some critical issue, please just directly address it..many of the bloggers are quite astute and to assume otherwise would be a folly..so please, let us have a "healthy" debate or just drop the whole thing..again, I wish everybody a good start in this year 2008..we colectively can influence what we can to make it better for not just us, but to all our cousins world-wide, blessings - Ash

True. But if you want to be heard, don't you think a better approach would make more people want to listen to you? Who wants to hear somebody always saying how wrong they are? I don't know a soul who wants to hear that.

I perceive your position as being exactly what it is, escapeism. Just about every fight all over the world has some sort of "religious" root involved in it. The Suni don't like the Shite and why? Religous reasons. Muslims don't like Christians and why? Religious reasons.

You are the only one creating diversions because you don't like answering questions head on. You always bring something inconsequential into the conversation that throws it off kilter. You are confused my young friend because if someone gave you cold water and pee pee with your eyes and nose closed, you wouldn't even know the difference. Open your eyes and unplug your nose and answer direct questions for a change.

B2008,

Welcome to the New Year! I hope there is great success to you and yours. You put a lot of things on me that I cannot respond to because they represent how you percieve my position! Religion is "not" the root cause of all this chaos! The incompetent seem to flourish when they can create diversions for the masses!

I am not confused, I recognize the difference between cold water and pee pee!

Sometimes bpitter, some people FAKE misery to awaken others from what they PERCEIVE as their COMPLACENCY..A clever approach to get one's point across..sometimes it works, sometimes it back fires..I've left a comment on Glen's latest entry on his blog..perhaps you two might want to lead this debate (sorta like Hannity & Holmes), get others involved..and hopefully make something positive of it..just don't make it an ego / penny battle :)..

Well, let me know. I can take anything you got to dish out, my friend, because I believe in my God and there's nothing you can say to dissuade me from my beliefs. True, it seems that religion is very much the cause of this planet's problems at present but I don't worry about anything I can do nothing about. If I had the power, I would make everybody believe in what is good and positive, but I don't have that power. And "happy and positive" does not create problems. It creates misery for those who are not happy and positive because they want everybody to be miserable with them. Misery loves company:)

I had to go take care of the other things that consume my time! You people (all of you) seem to make my point more credible. O happy days are here! Give me a break! The Planet is being run by "Racist Demagogues" and you are happy and looking at the positives! Well happy and positive are creating a lot of misery for some of us (the voiceless majority) and I am going to let you people know it!

And, I do wish us all a Happy, Prosperous, and Healthy New Year!

We know the happiest of people are invariably those with a positive frame of mind. One of the best things I have liked about them is that they don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes their way. This is the secret.

I don't know why, but they do. Do I shy away from these "Woe is me, All is lost" No. I look at them, smile and say "Gee, What a tough way to live." (Actually, I use different words which I refrain from putting in print) Be happy and enjoy the day.IR

Bspitter..I've met people with Glen's approach to debate..they usually have
above average intelligence..one of them happens to be a long-time very good friend of mine..my approach has been similar to yours, namely, without namecalling, labeling, overgeneralizing etc, get your point across on sound reasoning, as you're already doing, and they'll end up respecting you more..I can sense Glen already smiling and enjoying this sparring session..but seriously, Glen, your approach ends up pissing off other intellectuals, as it is happening here..there are better ways to engage them and try to create a more mutually respectable atmosphere, or don't you care about that ?

Glennb, if only you knew...

...it doesn't pang me at all. It just spices up my juices and gets me ready for a nice back and forth, that's all. I love it. Nothing upsets me other than pure ignorance. And I must say, you are not ignorant. But you act like it when you make others feel ignorant. That's not necessary. That's what these blogs are for, a conversation between two people of different views without name calling which spoils the whole nine yards. We can agree to disagree without hurting each other's feelings.

If you can chunk the name calling, it could be fun. Nobody wants to talk to anyone who calls them names all the time. Nobody who responded to your blog called you a name. But you did when you called all Americans cowards. That was a cheap shot and a low blow. Grow up and discard that rationale.

Bpitter2007,
It must pang you to hear a point of view that differs from yours and you dismiss it as cpmplaining! Put a noose around a man's neck, that it is too tight is the lesser complaint! I am offended by ignorance!
