As an offender
I found this blog very funny. I remember calling a friend once who laid me out on the phone. Even in my drunken stupor, it brought me to attention. "Don't call me when you are liquered up" he yelled just before he slammed the phone down. This dose of reality did two things, it made me more aware of my drinking limit and when I hand my keys over to a friend, I also give them my phone.

Ah, yes...You refer to

that condition the late, great Lewis Grizzard used to call "Black Cord Disease" -- that moment in your bender where you relly think an ex-lover(or anyone, for that matter) is going to want to hear from you, out of the blue, at midnight.

It is endearing, and annoying, and sometimes requires a pointed conversation the next morning...

I had a friend that was so drunk all the time

when he called I would just set the phone down and check it every 5-10 minutes to see if he was still blabbering.

About "Now Bleeding At the Wrists" it is not about anything

I am going through .it is just a poem and when i started writing the thought of suicide had nothing to do with now "bleeding at the wrists" , in my mind any way.

THANKS FOR THE WORRY AND CONCERN. I WOULD NEVER CUT MY WRISTS ESPECIALLY OVER SOMEONE ELSE.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Seedlings, I have been on both side of the fence.I was somewhat embarrassed
the next morning. When I was the caller, thankfully the people on the other end of the line knew some of the conflicts going on in my life. The incidents were never mentioned, but I always remebembered . One of the many reasons I quit drinking to an excess. I screen the calls especially late at night. You never can tell when someone is going to punch in a wrong number.Peace∞IR

Sam and Lust
I normally don't answer my phone at such a late hour but with children you kind of have to. My daughter is usually the one who gets the drunk calls but she too has learned if the number comes up someone she knows to be one who drinks to excess she lets it go to voice mail. recordings are also a great way of letting your friends and family know what they sound like when they are crocked out of their minds.
