I think if we can put...
...our heads together and come up with a new concept that is
not in use right now, we might be phased out in the near future with "youtube" and all the other video sights controlling the internet audience at present. Videos seems to be a profitable business but I would hate to be involved in one exactly like "youtube" because so much garbage and immorality gets on there. Maybe we can integrate it in a more business-oriented fashion. For example, videos that spoof commercials or product ads. Something like that could break the bank if it draws millions of people, don't you think?

The internet is becoming sort of like a utility that is continuously used,
like say electricity. It will continue until it is replaced by something that is technologically superior, as the use of lamp oil was replaced by the use of electricity. One successful internet phenomena that you didn't mention and that I find very amazing is Wikipedia which involves a wide use of writers to deploy a very useful and highly valuable product directly to the public.

saul_relative - you've inadvertently hit on something
I've never published so much material as I have in the past two years by posting everywhere. (not actually everywhere but in a lot of different places) . . . I'm getting away from that, it is just too much work. I'm sure I'm not alone and if there are others like me, this suggests that at least some portion of the market for user contributed content is a false market. Or maybe an inflated market is a better way to put it.
