Does that also work to if the information contained in the article is so commonplace that it can be found anywhere and therefore is untraceable?

Jaz, Old articles can be rewritten in such a way the original becomes
unrecognizable. There are a few people on Blogit so much more informed on the legalities of such things. Check Arialia's blog and check with a few of the other people writing articles for Associated Content website...and oh yeah always read the 'terms and conditions' of the place you submit your work to. Don't get ripped off. Good luck
