From the ledge

Thanks jads, I truly wish I could just write comedy, which is a passion of mine but I can't ignore the suffering

Goverment by the people , for the people: read the directions before using!
PoeticDewdrop, I cannot agree with your assertions. Charity functions only because of the government's avoidance of its responsibility. Charity also usually spends a lot more than 20 percent on administrative costs. Many national charities are spending in excess of 43% on such costs. Finally the real issue here is how we as a people can let anyone in our society exists without certain minimum standards.

As to everyone wanting lower taxes, that is the equivalent of robbing children of their birthright. Lower taxes have decimated the public education system in the United States and the private educators have done nothing to help. Dogma in the place of common sense has ruled for too long.

Terrorist's come in all shapes and sizes how foreign was Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols or the Weathermen?

well we all know government isnt good for much...

and we try to make the government take care of everything. Everyone has forgotten that simple charity can do much more than programs like welfare where the government uses at least 80% of the procedes and 20% goes to the people who need it. Most charities give at LEAST 80% of their proceeds to the cause.

Yes, our nation is slowly deteriorating. But the only thing we can do right now is vote for lower taxes because lord knows the money goes to waste anyway.... And to use our surplus money to PERSONALLY see to the needs of things around you. Don't vote for a man who will raise the taxes to fix the school up for you.... Start up funds for the school independantly and try to raise awareness about certain problems. The more of this kind of thing that goes on, the less terrorists want to destroy the system.

And America is hated throughout the world by many... until the people get here. It is known that to date terrorist groups fund the transportation of hundreds of "terrorists" to the Us each year and almost every single one of them turns around and builds a new life in America. One hears how terrible it is on an extreme scale in terrorist organizations and once here, many think, Hey this isn't that bad... I'm not starving, I'm not cold and clothesless...

America sucks in a lot of respects. But take a step back and compare it to some other places in the world... Besides moving to Switzerland this is probably the BEST you're ever going to do.

A homage to Michael Moore
Katray, Michael Moore made it safe to risk asking the questions that we all held in our hearts. He was a and is a gentle giant of a humanitarian! Thanks for reading and caring about people!

A simple plea dear Damon of the north
Damon, I wish I had not seen the things I have in this life. Forced to reflect on the nature of evil I have had to learn to teach, and reach and dare to care!

The truth well said. Angry protests, civil unrest, possibly leading to revolutions...Way out of current comfort zones; but perhaps a bloody, painful labor is neccessary to birth real change and meaningful progress. I believe everything you write about; isn't Michael Moore the greatest boon to this awakening?  Love that man! Enjoying your posts!

Two of your Statements...
...really stand out for me.

There is no difference between being a slave and a wage slave.
No system based on abuse endures.

These are plain, simple, and absolutely true.

On the first, did you know if you look at the lifestyle of ANY pre-industrial people - Indians, Aborigines, Pygmies, kalahari Bushmen etc. - they typically spend 1-3 hours a day on the basics of living, ie finding and preparing food, fetching water. Now I'm not saying for a moment we should return to a tribal way of life (though a return to tribal values would certainly be a big improvement!) All i'm piinting out that so-called 'primitive' people spend no more than 12.5% of their day supporting their way of life. I know so-called 'civilised' people who spend 60% or more of their day supporting their way of life. Who are the bright ones?

As for a system based on abuse, the history books are littered with examples.

One thing I'd add. It's not just that the US, as sole super-power, is seen as an enemy by it's obvious enemies (like Muslims who are unfortunate enough to live on top of oil reserves, or in the path of oil pipelines), but is also seen as a global danger by the rest of us who are not on the Axis of Evil list. Politically. Militarily. Environmentally. Socially. Economically.

Spot on again, oh Darke One.
