Yes, that's very true.  And in some ways, its a great method of connecting to our past, seeing it in the present day context and letting it go.

It's amazing how much history
... we uncover when we sort things out. It's like watching a replay of our lives.

yes, that's how much out of touch we are with ourselves.  I heard a lecture yesterday which ended with a quote from John Maynard Keynes, "When the fact change, I change.  What do you do?"  Similarly, when we change the so do our tastes.  However, by habit we hang on to what we have.  Amazing isn't it?

actually I think a lot of people do get out of it by not doing anything.  I know many who whose homes are full of stuff, so much so they cannot move!

this is a project I did before I moved in with my husband
I had so many books that I had to pare down considerably.  It's amazing how many onto which I was hanging on that I didn't even like.
