ginnie
I was talking to my daughter about that yesterday.  When I first came to Canada it was to visit her.   When she took me into this cafe and asked me what I wanted I said "Coffee, with milk and sugar."  She turned to the girl at the counter and said 'medium, Double, Double.'   I remember being fascinated and asking my daughter if this was Canadian speak.  She and the server went hysterical "No, it's Tim Horton speak."    I'm learning, ginnie.

Re: I'm with PatB, Mac!
Thank you ginnie.  The episode happened on Monday. but I hadn't had time to write it or any of the following anecdotes until last night.  My reactions scared me s***less.  I had to pull in and tremble as I had a large double double.   The prairie sized car parks scare the hell out of me too.

Pat
Thank you kind lady.  It took my heart ages to slow down.  The whole episode scared the hell out of me, and since then I've been very conscious of my driving.   Yesterday someone overtook me on a double yellow, on a blind corner half a mile from home.  (Along the tourist route where we live, I always slow following cars down to the correct speed because it is so awkward to enter any of the driveways)  The overtake didn't phase me in the slightest, in fact I smiled as I waited for the oncoming car to take him out.  Of course I'm normal!!!

I'm with PatB, Mac!
There are a lot of emotions in that piece!  It's great!  And yes the world is a strange place!  It kills me what people will talk about when all ears are tuned on them.  And the other day I was in a parking lot and a car came barrelling irratically through the painted parking spots and I was driving along the main road of the lot and I honked my horn...something I rarely do...and automatically this woman mouthed the words 'eff off' to me!  I was doing the right thing..I swear!  I actually didn't swear but did wonder how people react like that so easily.  Hope you're feeling much better today!

Wow, that's a nice piece of writing. Laughing at the scared kid
at the start, filling up with secondary road rage and then, in the end, the satisfaction of some jerk getting her just deserts... My heart rate will slow down in a minute.
