Re: Phred...
Yeah, I get stuff like that all the time. Someone wants a new memory card, I ask them which type of card they need, and at least half the time the answer is "I don't know!"  And when prodded farther, they look at the label and say, "It's a 256." Or "SanDisk." And fairly often they call it "ScanDisk" because they don't know what the hell they're talking about. So many of them think every memory card is a SanDisk, when that's just one brand. Some think all types of memory card are interchangeable, and buy a Compact Flash card without double-checking which card they actually need, then they come back all pissed at us when the huge CF card won't fit into the tiny XD slot in their camera.

And then there's the people who come in and try to buy a SmartMedia card even though we haven't carried it in almost two years (and as far as I know, it was discontinued). And ones who think the razor-thin SmartMedia card goes into the huge, thick CF slot and then lose their cards...

Well, it just goes on and on. It never ends.

Phred...
Working with the public has is moments all right.  I did automotive machining for 20 years or so and one day a fellow picking up a rebuilt cylinder head asked me, "which end goes up?"  I thought he was joking, for Christ's sake, he had to have taken it off the engine to bring it to me, now he can't remember after a week?  I though he might have been confused about which end the timing gear bolted onto the cam, that would be easy enough to be confused about, but no, he really meant which side mated to the block!  An idiot can see that, flat goes to flat, how the hell would anyone expect the overhead cam to seal a block?  I made a note of my copy of the work order in case there were problems later.
