I've used the "little shadow that goes in and out with me" line in
a story. Our lead has evaded her surveillance and left town, and the agency has a fairly good idea where she's headed. But agent Simpkins doesn't dare show himself, the quarry will resist him, and that could be dangerous. So he's sending a harmless "citizen" who will have a better chance of keeping an eye on her until they can scoop her up. Mark Forrester says don't worry, Simpkins, I'll find her. And Simpkins says I'm not worried Dr. Forrester, thinking to himself You'll have a little shadow that goes in and out with you. So we never forget our nursery rhymes...
