Loved it. Up in your face, brass tacks, like it/don't like it journalism.
Pure Jack Cafferty.  He's right more than he's wrong and that's because he shoots straight down the middle.  It's worth reading, bpitter.  It's a littel autobiographical as well, which gives us insight into how the "old dinosaur" got to be the way he is...

Re: Hagel's the best choice, bpotter, but he's not running, dammit.
Was Cafferty's book good, Saul-relative? I know it must have been because he is too funny. What do you think?

Hagel's the best choice, bpotter, but he's not running, dammit.
I just read Jack Cafferty's book, It's Getting Ugly Out There, and he says he likes Hagel best as well.

No, Corbin, that's part of the 'good' things, except for his asinine war on

terror.  We have a nonexistent foreign policy.  Just about every industry in the United States has been benefited from deregualtion.  The Clean Air Act was rewritten for corporate profit.  Bush wants an semi-open border; status quo works best for him and his corporate cronies.  We need to get out of Iraq.  Looks as if we're going to be losing Afghanistan as well.  Under the Bush administration, you've gotten Most Children Left Behind (no money and a test-oriented, outcome based, corruptible system of accountability).  The abrogation of the Constitution by ordering the NSA to eavesdrop on Americans.  The infringement on civil liberties in the (non)Patriot Act. That's just for starters, Corbin.  I think any president worth a damn -- from Huckabee to Ron Paul to Biden to Obama -- would make ten times the president that supercilious piece of horseshit has.  And all they have to do is take a look at what that worthless asshole has done to the office of the presidency and to the United States as a sovereign nation and an international entity, then do the opposite, starting with negating most of them.  He's the worst president ever, bar none. Excuse me, bar NONE.  I've never read about or seen in my lifetime a more disgraceful misuse and abuse of the public trust.

And I'll bet those billions of dollars for AIDS medicines and research have never been appropriated.  Take a look at the GAO reports and I'll bet they were passed in various legislative formats but the money was either cut or deflected for some other program.  This has been the methodology of the Bush administration.  All facade; no substance.

But, then, Corbin, I did say most, not all... Even Bush can't be a PERFECT asshole...

Re: If the next president simply does the opposite of Dubya on most things,
So you're for increased taxes......surrendering to terrorists......repealing Billions for world aids research.......oh, I bet these aren't part of those "most things".....

Who was it -- Will Rogers, I think -- said that it wasn't difficult being a
humorist when you have the entrie government work for you?  Thanks, Chyrlann.

Now you know I'm not political but Walker, Texas Ranger is my hero!
I just enjoy reading you, that's all. Your posts read along rather smoothly. If I'm going to ever know anything about politics and world affairs, this is the only way, through enjoyable and smooth reading (with a touch of humor thrown in every now & then).

If the next president simply does the opposite of Dubya on most things,
afzal, the United States will be the better for it...
