Hi Soul....
Very one-sided piece on "organized religion" (as opposed to what, disorganized religion?  that term never made much sense to me).

Very interesting observations! Hindus say it is a cycle. Christianity seems to infer... one life, death, then resurrection or hell. Death is the loss of the body. Whatever survives must be the Soul. The not-self ,of course goes to its own hell. Thanks! I will try to stay interesting!

Maybe we are dumb sheep, clinging to religion (the opiate of the masses) while they are unasleep, gathering the wealth of the world. Or, maybe the good find God anyway, while evil popes found sex, murder and wealth! Their sombre pious holiness is just a facade! Put 'papacy' in google and find out what they're up to today!

It's interesting to me
that most of the people in the world have an undeniable desire to be connected to things beyond death. It may manifest in religions, or belief in ghosts and spirits, or both, but I believe it is closely related to understanding what lies beyond death.  Is death part of a cycle of the soul, or is it finality, or is it the interdimensional passing of energy?  I have no idea.  Maybe people would rather believe what they want than know for sure because death is really not in our control for the most part.  Anyway, you always have interesting posts.

I am not a believer in going to church to talk to God; I can do that
wherever I may be but I do wonder what He would think of the behaviour/practices of some of his supposed holy men (priests).  Thanks for sharing this

Very interesting! I guess different people have different experiences as they relate to God. Some may view their successes as originating from God. Some may believe that God does not deal in the mundane, yet relate to him in some other way. Guidance received, is my own little way of relating. This is usually accomplished beyond thought, while just 'seeing'. Though things are bad materially, I have not really been helped there. Personal God relationships are one-on-one, third parties cannot really know  the exact details  of such encounters. Then, there is so much deception! I can safely say this having listened to many TESTIMONIES in the smaller churches. Thanks!

when you write about the bible and organized religion, i would like to say
for years i have felt that way about it.  I say felt because i never studied or read about these things because i never felt the need to.  I said to myself, these are your feelings and they feel right, what you are saying made sense to me.  It didn't hurt my relationship with god, in fact it made me stronger and more of a believer in god. God never had to promise me anything or give me anything to believe, i just do.  Then there is that relationship with god, i hear people say all the time, he has never let me down, and i wonder what do they mean exactly.  I do not believe god is that personal with us. When you ask for things how can you be sure it came from god.  If we ask for a miracle, how can we be sure it would not have happened that way anyway.  My communications with god are me thinking of him, not him thinking of me.

The Church pf the latter day Saints believe that Christ and his disciples were all slaughtered. The 'risen' Christ came to America. The Roman Empire took over the CHURCH, and still runs things! I guess the truth will come out! Let's hope it is not too late! Thanks!

I was raised a Catholic...but I have found some things I don't totally agree with (and the institutions or organizations) are one of them. It seems like they like to use God's word for their own purposes. Still, I work on developing my spirituality...and trying to became a better person (if possible) LOL.

It's not where you worship but how you worship

I've learned a great deal about church, religion, and spirituality over the years. It boils down to this, I treasure my relationship with God and I let absolutely nobody interfere with that. It talk directly to God without anyone else's assistance. He's there when I need Him and He never gives me more than I can handle. Sure I don't always like His methods but I figure there's a reason for everything and I obviously have a lesson to learn. Most importantly, He's never failed me.....

Ok, I'm done. I just had to get that out.

You may be right there. Part of the reason I prefer religious people is that , at least, they are trying! When they see believing, not as just a preliminary step, but as the whole course of spirituality, then deception is afoot! The feeling of belonging to something is an experience people crave. Such that, it is socialising  not personal spiritual growth, that many seek. Yet, it is that road less travelled, that one must pursue! Thanks Guy!

Taps
Each person's unfoldment level, is influenced by many things, unique to his personal situation. Time, occupation, personal effort, guidance etc. Yet there are common practices and experiences, regardless of other factors. If you are drawn or seek it deliberately, true spirituality involves the practice of morality....things like truth, honesty, goodness, compassion etc. Spiritual people are very 'light' people. They generally lack the aggression common to predatory people. They are usually mild-mannered, calm , understanding and devoid of any talent for mischief. There are other qualities they exhibit in the way they conduct themselves in the world eg patience, determination, forbearance etc, they generally  pick people up and help them to stand. All this eventually leads to the awareness of guidance from within via intuition or inspiration. This takes care of the seeker! Thanks!

Clearly, there is spirituality first, organised religion a distant second.
Many nominal followers of organised religion are not particularly spiritual, while others are but haven't thought independently of their religion's teachings, but like it spoon fed to them. I get the impression that a lot of Christians and other religious followers are sincerely spiritual and inhabit a halfway house between following the teachings and thinking for themselves, which is an admirable position; better than repeating things like a parrot but not believing or not being intellectually curious.

I concur with TAPS.  The God of my understanding is not the God I was taught in my youth.  I discovered him as I sought Truth; first without and then within.  AmMused.

"True Spirituality" can be a rather elusive thing.   What may be "true" to you, may be questionable to another.   Methinks that only The Holy Spirit can draw one into true spirituality and only He can define it.
