Vitamin C is important for good health. Because our body cannot store vitamins, a regular intake is necessary.
Vitamin C is important in maintaining healthy skin and connective tissues as well as enhancing the immune system.
In addition, Vitamin C is one of the most well-recognised antioxidants which prevents oxidation of substances known as free radicals. Our body produces more free radicals then needed through smoking, drinking alcohol, eating high-fat diets and exposure to sun and atmospheric pollution. These processes have been linked to ageing and a number of illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. However, an adequate supply of Vitamin C may counteract these actions.
