You are correct. It took sometime. However, what was done was not achieved at the behest of occupying forces. Things evolved logically. We fought ourselves and settled our differences. Let the Iraqis do the same. It should be their choice to make.

And.......
How many years did it take,  for us to come to an agreement, on this marvelous document?

Articles of Confederation (1777)

U.S. Constitution (1787)

Bill of Rights (1791)

Yet, we expect the Iraqis to come up with a form of government in less than 3 years?  Hmmm?

WavyDavy:

In my view, the Constitution should be amended only in extreme, extreme cases. Only when an over riding and fundamental right is at stake.

Later, I will respond about the process for amending and rescinding an amendment. I am glad to see you here again.

This is an excellent post. I am against amendments they usually cause more trouble than good. I am for it staying as it is at the moment in all cases....It is a powerful document and I am glad they did as they did and keep it as it is now.
