I'm 48, single and love it
I think women are trained to value security more than men. And it's possible to have a real relationship with more than one person. I'm dating two women right now. I've been with one for a year and the other for five years. They know about each other and seem to be fine with it. I believe I have genuine relationships with both of them

I am divorced
I got married at 23 and now am getting a divorce at 26. Finding what you think will be the man of your life is not the answer. Sure, I totally understand how you felt. I had quite a few experiences with men like that, specially since I decided to wait till I was married to consummate and I did.
Now that I look back I realize that being single is not so bad. Those older people are right, they have more experience and can see things that other superficial people can't.
What you need to do is work on yourself. What makes you happy? Life life day by day and try to find your own happiness. Then maybe everything else will also come and if it doesn't then at least you can find some contentment.
I know I am a lot younger but I have been through a lot and now I know what is like to be single, married and now divorced.
